The short version: the Purring app has no server, no account and no analytics. It does not connect to the internet at all. Everything you write or earn stays on your iPhone, and this website uses no cookies and no third-party services.
1. What this policy covers
This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the Purring app for iPhone and when you visit purringapp.com. It applies to both, and it is written to be read rather than skimmed.
Purring is developed by an individual developer ("we", "us"). You can reach us at [email protected] about anything on this page.
2. What the app collects
Nothing. Specifically, Purring does not collect, transmit or have access to:
- Your name, email address or any account details — there is no account and no sign-up.
- Analytics, usage statistics or behavioural data of any kind.
- Advertising identifiers, or any identifier that could follow you between apps.
- Your location, contacts, photos, microphone, camera or health data.
- Crash reports of our own. The app contains no crash-reporting library.
- Anything at all over the network. The app makes no network requests, so there is no channel through which data could leave.
3. Where your information lives
Everything Purring knows — your streak, your history, your journal entries, your mood check-ins, your notes, your yarn balls, your purchases and your cat's name and coat — is stored in a single small file inside the app's own private container on your device.
It is removed when you delete the app, and it is erased immediately if you choose Start over from scratch in Settings. There is no copy anywhere else, which also means there is no backup: if you delete the app, the streak goes with it.
If you have iCloud Backup or computer backups switched on, iOS may include the app's container in your own device backup. That backup is created, encrypted and controlled by Apple under your iCloud settings — it is not something we can read, and it is not a service we operate.
4. Reminders and notifications
Both reminders are off by default. If you turn one on, the notification is scheduled locally by iOS on your device. There is no push server and no device token is ever registered with us. Turning a reminder off cancels the pending notification immediately.
5. Mood, journal and notes
We recognise that a mood check-in or a journal entry is sensitive. This is precisely why the app has no network code: those entries physically cannot leave your device through Purring. They are never read by us, never analysed, and never used to build a profile of you.
6. Health data
Purring is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat or monitor any condition. It does not read from or write to Apple Health, and it does not request health permissions.
7. Children
Purring is not directed at children under 13. Because it collects nothing from anyone, it collects nothing from children either.
8. This website
purringapp.com is a static website. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and loads no resources from third parties — the fonts and every other asset are served from this domain.
The only personal information this site can receive is an email address you choose to send us, either through the launch notification form or by writing to us directly. We use it for exactly one thing: to tell you when Purring is released. We do not add you to a newsletter, we do not sell or share it, and you can ask us to delete it at any time by emailing [email protected].
Like almost any website, our hosting provider may keep short-lived standard server logs — IP address, user agent, requested URL — for security and to keep the site online. We do not use them to identify anyone.
9. Your rights
Data protection law in many places — the GDPR in Europe, the PDPO in Hong Kong, the CCPA in California and others — gives you rights to access, correct, delete or port the personal data an organisation holds about you, and to object to how it is used.
Because Purring collects nothing, there is nothing for us to hand over, correct or erase on the app side; the data is already exclusively under your control, on your device. For the one thing we could hold — an email address you sent us — those rights apply in full, and a single email is all it takes to exercise them.
10. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. If a future version of Purring ever added a feature that collected data — an optional sync service, for example — this policy would be updated before that feature shipped, and it would be opt-in.
